In the world of wine and spirits, I am probably best known for my former role as The Tasting Panel's only Editor-At-Large, and my continuing frequent contributions to BonAppetit.com. As a writer and photographer, I've also been published in Decanter, Wine&Spirits, About.com, Haute Living, several Niche Media titles (Ocean Drive, VEGAS magazine) and many other print and online outlets.

Writing about fine wine, spirits, beer and sake, I've had the pleasure of interacting and tasting with many prominent Master Sommeliers, Master Mixologists, Ciccerones, Vintners, Distillers, Brewmasters and other industry professionals.

Off the page, I've also conducted educational seminars and tastings for the Champagne Bureau as well as Ribera del Duero, conducted private mixology classes and cocktail tastings, curated pairing dinners, judged cocktail contests, participated in blind wine tastings and crafted published recipes.

Previously, as a silent partner and principal investor in Silver Lake's Edendale Grill and Mixville Bar, I played a significant role in conceiving and researching a classic cocktail menu from original sources, at a time (2000-2002) when few LA bars even knew how to make a proper Manhattan.

Some of the famous places and drinks I've enjoyed include Bellnis at Harry's Bar in Venice, sangria on Las Ramblas, Barcelona, Fog Cutters at Trader Vic's Beverly Hills and Budweisers at CBGB.

My first cocktail was a batch of "Tom Collins" made from Gordon's Gin and Country Time powdered lemonade! My appreciation for beer actually came later, and wine, later still when I had the pleasure of sharing a 1966 Pétrus aged 30 years in the bottle.
